PLATEAUX
PLATEAUX
PLATEAUX IS A FESTIVAL OF CONTEMPORARY CREATION, BORN IN MARSEILLE AND CARRIED BY RIFT.
NOMADIC AND TRANSDISCIPLINARY, BUILT AS A LABORATORY, IT BRINGS PERFORMANCES, INSTALLATIONS, BATTLES, SCREENINGS, READINGS, AND CONCERTS TOGETHER IN A SINGLE SHARED SPACE. THE FORMAT IS DENSE AND INTENSE, OVER THE SPAN OF TEN HOURS.
PLATEAUX TAKES OVER UNCONVENTIONAL SPACES AND FILLS THEM WITH PRESENCES, GESTURES, SOUNDS, AND IMAGES — TURNING THEM INTO TESTING GROUNDS.
IT TAKES ITS RHYTHM FROM THE PORT: ITS INFRASTRUCTURES, ITS CIRCULATIONS, THE TENSIONS THEY PRODUCE. SEVERAL WORKS UNFOLD SIMULTANEOUSLY, LAYERED RATHER THAN SEQUENTIAL. THEY COEXIST UNDER TENSION: THEY OVERLAP, BLEED INTO ONE ANOTHER, RESPOND TO EACH OTHER, AND TOGETHER COMPOSE A COLLECTIVE WORK THAT HOLDS ONLY FOR A MOMENT.
THE FESTIVAL GATHERS ARTISTS FROM MARSEILLE, THE MEDITERRANEAN, AND BEYOND, AND PUTS CONTEMPORARY NARRATIVES INTO CIRCULATION — TESTED IN SITU, ON SITE AND IN REAL TIME.
BETWEEN FORMS, BODIES, AND TERRITORIES, THEY COLLIDE AND CRACK OPENINGS BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE.
PLATEAUX IS AN EXPERIMENT IN REASSEMBLY: OUT OF FRAGMENTED NARRATIVES EMERGE EMANCIPATORY PRACTICES, PLURAL FUTURES, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF IMAGINING THEM TOGETHER.
